This woman was the mastermind behind the original costumes for the Playboy Bunnies and the Dance Theater of Harlem. In 1948, Zelda Wynn Valdes opened her own shop on Broadway in New York City. She was the first African American to own property in that area (Go Girl!!).
Mrs. Valdes' clients included stars like Dorothy Dandridge and Marian Anderson. We love her designs because she made clothes and costumes to accent the female body.....sexy!!!! See some of her designs below....they are beautiful!
